Francis was referred to us by the Children’s…
…court in Kisumu as he is at risk of playing truant and does not receive the supervision and education he should have. He was born in Karateng, an area 13 km away from Cherry Brierley Children’s Home and is a partial orphan. His mother is a widow and tries to make a living by hawking mangoes and bananas but is unable to feed Francis properly or afford the school uniform so he can go to school. He has two elder siblings and all the income seems to go towards paying the secondary school fees for them, leaving nothing for Francis.
So, needing proper nutrition and education, he was deemed at risk and brought into our care. He is recovering from a rabid dog-bite which fortunately he received timely intervention for. He is now regularly attending school and receiving much needed support and encouragement, with a bright future ahead of him. He is at Tiengre Primary School, where all of our primary aged children attend. He has a nutritious diet and a huge new family to love him. He loves singing and playing ball games! (Another one for the CBCH football team!)
Please do pray for him as he settles in to his new home. It is our challenge now to find a sponsor to help ensure we can provide him with the care and education he needs until the end of his childhood when he will leave us, venture out in to the world and hopefully be in the position of a young man with great opportunities. If you would like to sponsor Francis, please do get in touch or complete the form opposite. We would love to find him a caring supporter who will take an interest in his life as he grows up, whom he can write to and tell all about his life at the Home and his new school and that vital sponsorship enables us to ensure that we can continue the crucial work of the Children’s Home in caring for Francis and all of our children.
