Vincent’s Story

Vincent is 10 years old and was born…

…in Awasi, an area 50 km away from Cherry Brierley Children’s Home and is a partial orphan. His mother, only 26 now, lost her husband in 2013 and tries to make a living for herself and 3 children by selling omena (fish). However, she is unable to make ends meet and is often compelled to seek assistance from other relatives who live in the same circumstances. Vincent suffers from severe and recurrent bouts of Asthma which leave him weak and at risk of infection. His mother is unable to supply the necessary nutrition and treatment to maintain him in reasonable health. His school attendance was sporadic.

So, he was deemed to be at risk and brought into our care for nurture and protection. He is now resuming his education with encouragement and support from CBCH and has every opportunity to realise his potential academically. He is currently at Tiengre Primary School, where all our other primary aged children go and he loves playing ball games with his new family at CBCH.

Our challenge is to find sponsors for our new children and so far we have found a sponsor for one of our new 7 but so far not for Vincent. Our challenge is to find him a committed and caring supporter who will walk alongside him, pray for him and enable him to receive what has been so desperately missing from his young life so far. If this is you, please get in contact, Vincent would love to have his own sponsor and stay in touch with you with news and stories about his life and be able to tell you all about how he’s doing at school and with his new family at the Children’s Home.

There is no minimum monthly amount to sponsor a child but having someone who cares enough to be their monthly sponsor means a great deal to the children and to us in supporting our work so that the Children’s Home can continue. To get in touch please email us on office@kisumuchildren.org.uk or complete our form opposite.
