This year’s April Bible Camp was a truly memorable and significant event. The theme was “Hope to Faith – Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).
The camp brought together a record number of children and young people, creating an atmosphere full of energy, expectation, and joy. It also marked an important milestone, as for the first time, the camp was largely led by university and college students.
A total of 156 participants attended, including 16 young leaders. This growth compared to previous years reflects not only increasing interest.
From the very beginning, there was a sense that this camp would be something special.
One of the most meaningful aspects of this year’s camp was the leadership of young adults. Many of them had once been campers themselves and had grown up alongside the children they were now guiding. This created a natural connection and a warm, family-like environment. The children felt at ease, inspired by leaders they knew and looked up to as older brothers and sisters. At the same time, these young leaders were given an opportunity to grow—developing confidence, responsibility, and a deeper sense of faith through serving others.
The daily programme thoughtfully combined biblical teaching with interactive and engaging activities. Each day explored a different dimension of the theme, helping the children understand how hope develops into a confident and living faith.
The camp opened with an introduction to the foundation of hope, followed by sessions that explored its growth, its transformation into faith, and what it means to live with confidence in that faith. By the end of the week, the message had been woven into both teaching and experience.
After the main sessions, children gathered by age to share their thoughts and learn together. These moments made the teaching more personal and helped deepen understanding in a supportive setting.
The camp was also filled with activity and joy. Sports and games played a central role, with football, tug of war, races, and team challenges bringing laughter and encouraging cooperation. Through play, the children were not only having fun but also learning valuable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and supporting one another.
Music also played an important part in the camp experience. During cultural song sessions, children shared songs from their own communities, celebrating diversity while strengthening unity. These moments were full of life and expression, reflecting the richness of their backgrounds.
Evenings brought a different rhythm, blending worship, reflection, and creativity.
Talent shows allowed children to express themselves through dance, drama, and poetry, while group activities and challenges built confidence and strengthened friendships. Film screenings with positive messages provided an opportunity to relax while reinforcing important values.
At the end of the Bible Camp, the children received a very special visit from ophthalmologists who carried out important eye examinations. This was a valuable opportunity to assess the children’s vision and address potential sight problems that can significantly affect learning both at school and at home. In Kenya, including the Kisumu region, vision challenges are a common health concern, making this kind of support especially meaningful.

One of the clearest lessons from this year’s camp was the value of involving young adults in leadership. Their presence not only attracted more children but also created a strong sense of trust and connection. Continuing to invest in and support these young leaders will be essential for future camps.
There were also challenges at the Bible Camp. The lack of a sound system made it difficult for everyone to hear clearly during sessions. We pray and hope that for the next camp, this need will be met.
The camp touched lives, strengthened faith, and contributed to a growing sense of community.
A big thank you to all the leaders for their dedication, care, and support throughout the camp.
We are so grateful to the Funding Trust that made this possible.
