“I heard the children praying from the dormitories, thanking God over and over. Their faith, even in such circumstances, humbles me,” says Pamela.
In one day, a 16-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy — unrelated and from difficult backgrounds — were brought to the Children’s Office by a kind-hearted well-wisher. The officer then contacted CBCH for assistance. Their arrival at the Home was deeply moving. Overwhelmed with gratitude, they shed tears of joy upon learning they had a safe place to stay. Even being served food was met with heartfelt appreciation.
While at CBCH, they will receive counselling and support during their short-term stay, as the Children’s Department works to trace and assess their caregivers.
A case conference will determine the next steps — whether reintegration is possible or if safe placement with extended family is needed. At present, there are seven children under CBCH’s care, ranging in age from 2 to 16 years old. A special thank you to Philemon, Manase, Pamela and Winnie for their tireless dedication.
It’s a journey of faith, care, and commitment to every child.
