Job Opportunity: Development Officer based in Kisumu, Kenya
6-9 month contract
Kisumu Children Trust (KCT) is an established Christian charity dedicated to improving the lives of some of Kenya’s poorest children through a three-fold approach:
– running a residential home
– supporting children within their own homes
– through sustainable community development projects.
KCT seeks a suitable person for the short-term role of Development Officer, who will be responsible for developing our continuing operational strategy in Kenya. The Development Officer will work closely with current members of staff at the charity’s established children’s home near Kisumu, and with local educators, Chiefs, politicians, and other community leaders to identify and develop opportunities for helping impoverished children.

– Facilitating workshops, learning sessions, and community engagement

The successful applicant will promote and support a culture of innovation and learning within a small, dedicated team. The candidate should have good training and capacity building
skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, good cross-cultural awareness, and a genuine heart for the most vulnerable are essential for this role.
The position will have a working base in and around the Cherry Brierley Children’s Home (approximately 6 miles from Kisumu).
The ability to communicate in English is essential and a desire to learn some of the local language would be much appreciated by the community.
