One of our supporters has kindly funded materials for weaving baskets (bags), which have now been received by one of our caregivers’ groups.
It is vital to support caregivers and their children. By empowering single mothers and carers, we strengthen families and communities — and that is always good for children.
Two ladies from the group have already begun weaving baskets and have even sold some to vendors from Uganda. This early success is inspiring, and more women in the group will soon have the opportunity to learn these valuable skills.
A roll of material costs around 1,700 KSH (approximately £11) and is enough to make ten smaller baskets. Each small basket sells for about 300 KSH (approximately £1.90), and each woman can produce ten baskets a day. This initiative is expected to provide families with income to help cover food and other essential needs.
Please join us in praying for the training, the crafting process, and for good opportunities to sell the baskets — that this venture may bring skills, income, and hope to everyone involved.
If this project succeeds, we hope to expand it to another group. Our vision is to create more opportunities for caregivers and, in the future, for older children as well. During our last visit, we had the privilege of meeting the group and hearing their stories firsthand. Their courage, determination, and resilience were truly inspiring.
Courageous women are truly precious!
